 A Goodbye from Mr Jones

Two years ago I was due to retire from being headteacher at Cardinal Wiseman when I was asked by the Birmingham Catholic Diocese to step in as headteacher of Holy Trinity which at the time was experiencing some difficulties.

I was only too willing to agree to help a school where I’d started my teaching career the best part of 40 years ago and at which my wife, two daughters, son and son-in-law had worked at for well over twenty years. You can see that Holy Trinity means everything to me.

We have a remarkable team of staff who serve our students with care and dedication. Through the hard work of staff and our marvellous students supported by yourselves, Holy Trinity is now officially in the top 20% of schools nationally. Mine was only a temporary appointment and so we were all delighted to learn in March that the governors had appointed Mr Bannon to be from September Holy Trinity’s permanent headteacher.

Along with his many personal and professional qualities Mr Bannon, as one of our current deputies, has a comprehensive understanding not only of Holy Trinity but of the changes needed to meet any future challenges. Mr Bannon will discover like me what a privilege it is to serve as Holy Trinity’s headteacher.

While I am looking forward to my retirement I am also keen to be able to follow through twitter, our web-site and the Friday Letter the future of Holy Trinity. It is a very bright one! I hope you and your families have a peaceful, happy and restful summer holiday – let us hope the sun continues to shine but the temperature drops just a little!

It has been an honour to serve Holy Trinity as headteacher on our incredible journey during the final two years of my teaching career.

Thank you - from the bottom of my heart.

Yours sincerely

Martin Jones
