Our broad and balanced curriculum aims to provide pupils with a high-quality education which supports their academic, pastoral and personal needs.

As a highly aspirational school, we encourage our pupils to believe that they can be whomever they want to be: ‘I am a Holy Trinity Pupil, and I can achieve anything’ and that they can make a difference in the world that they are part of – this being at the core of the education that we aspire to provide for our pupils.

Through the pastoral, academic and personal development of our pupils, we are able to focus on the whole child. This is achieved through a balanced curriculum that is reviewed regularly to ensure that it is fit for purpose.

Our curriculum intends to build on the knowledge pupils acquired in Year 7 through to Year 11.

It is our school’s intention to ensure that our pupils leave Holy Trinity equipped with the skills to become lifelong learners- readiness, resilient, resourceful, reflective and responsible

Each curriculum area contributing to the overall character building through their dedication to the Jesuit Pupil Values.

Our Curriculum model

  • Holy Trinity operates a horizontal tutoring system where each form group is made up of mixed ability students.
  • In teaching periods, students are grouped into two bands with three groups in each band. Practical subjects such as PE and Technology have an extra group.
  • Students participate in a Personal Social Development (PSD) lesson twice a fortnight from Years 7 to 11.
  • Students are taught mostly in mixed ability groups with the exception of Maths and Science.

Key stage 4

  • Students are taught a core curriculum of Maths, English, Science, RE and PSD.
  • Students are also taught one hour of PE per week in mixed ability groups (no examination)
  • There are six groups for core subjects, including RE
  • Students study a further three subjects at GCSE level or the equivalent i.e. Level 2 qualifications
  • Students choose their options during Year 9 and are guided in these choices by being assigned a coloured pathway (blue, red, green or yellow)
