We have just received some clarity from government regarding GCSE performance this year. I have picked out the key headlines:

• An unwavering commitment in government for pupils to get what they deserve.
• The exam boards will be asking teachers, who know their students well, to submit their judgement about the grade that they believe the student would have received if exams had gone ahead.
• Government / Ofqual and exam boards to work with leaders and teachers to take into an account a range of evidence and data which will include mock exam and non-mock exam assessment.
• The exam boards will then combine this information with other relevant data, including prior attainment, and use this information to produce a calculated grade for each student, which will be a best assessment of the work they have put in.
• The ambition is for grades to be communicated and awarded to pupils before the end of July.
• Pupils will have the opportunity to appeal any decision they deem unfair or sit an examination at the earliest opportunity at the outset of new academic year.
• Teaching Unions to be fully consulted before this approach is finalised.
• No publication of School League Tables this year is now confirmed.

This is wonderful news for our Year 11 pupils and I am really confident that all will get awarded what they absolutely deserve which is the very best.
