Message from Headteacher and the Holy Trinity Mission Statement

Headteacher – Welcome and Introduction

Holy Trinity Catholic School is a mixed secondary school located in the Small Heath area of Birmingham. Our school is named after the Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, which sits at the heart of our Catholic faith and values. We are proud to be a founding member of the St Teresa of Calcutta Multi-Academy Catholic Company and part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham.

Although a small percentage (6%) of our pupils are Catholic, our Catholic ethos is a real strength of the school and is fully supported by all staff. Many of our pupils are Muslim, and we are proud of our respectful, faith-literate community, where pupils of different beliefs support one another and understand the importance of worship at the centre of school life. We also welcome pupils from other Christian denominations, other faiths, and families with no religious affiliation. Inclusion, respect and understanding are central to everything we do.

In January 2020, Holy Trinity was judged Outstanding in all areas during its Section 48 (Archdiocese Catholic School) Inspection. Inspectors noted that “the mission of the school permeates every aspect of its work” and praised the ‘strong culture of respect, love and ambition ‘shared by pupils and staff, where the steadfast culture of respect and love for each other as creations of God, …. drives their ambition to ‘achieve anything’.” (Section 48 Inspection Report, January 2020).

In September 2023, we introduced a new school mission, which is fully embraced by pupils, staff and families. This mission guides all aspects of school life and supports our aim for every child to thrive, to ‘belong’ and to grow spiritually, holistically, academically and personally. We want all pupils to leave Holy Trinity having grown in knowledge and spirituality, inspired to become successful, compassionate and caring citizens. Our school motto, “Learn to Love, Love to Learn,” reflects our commitment to kindness, respect, peace and celebrating individuality. Pupils continue to make exceptional and above-expected progress in a range of subjects including Religious Education and the performance of our pupils at GCSE 2025 places our school as one of the top performing schools in the country in the attainment of disadvantaged children.

Holy Trinity currently has 755 pupils on roll. We proudly serve a diverse and vibrant community, including a higher-than-average number of pupils with additional needs, those learning English as an additional language, and pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. Many pupils join us from a wide range of primary schools and with starting points below the national average. Guided by Catholic Social Teaching, we work tirelessly to support our families, reduce barriers to learning and ensure every child is given the opportunity to succeed.

In September 2023, Ofsted rated Holy Trinity Outstanding for Personal Development, Behaviour and Attitudes, and Leadership and Management. We have also recently achieved Gold accreditation in the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award, recognising our strong commitment to children’s rights and wellbeing.

As a founding school within the St Teresa of Calcutta MAC, we remain fully committed to the spiritual and educational development of every child. We continue to strive for excellence so that all pupils at Holy Trinity receive the highest standard of Catholic education and care.

Thank you for taking the time to read this information and for visiting our school website.

We foster a caring and conscious community where every child is supported to thrive, regardless of barriers or vulnerability. We are deeply committed to supporting all pupils—particularly the most vulnerable, including those facing economic hardship, language barriers, being in care or with special educational needs—with compassion, respect and the highest expectations. Inclusion, holistic development and exceptional, impactful behaviours are at the heart of our work, alongside a strong commitment to learning, ambition and social justice. We actively contribute to the wider MAC mission, working collaboratively to serve our communities and partner schools.

They experience joyful learning through rich and varied opportunities both inside and beyond the classroom, making our educational offer truly unmissable. The wellbeing of both pupils and staff is central to all we do and is fundamental to our holistic success.

High expectations underpin our strong sense of community. In a rapidly changing educational landscape, our innovative and ambitious curriculum equips pupils with the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to become resilient, highly effective learners, fully prepared for the demands of the 21st century.  Our pupils learn to value, celebrate care for creation as stewards of the world around us.
