We have had a number of Year 7 pupils take part in Kings Trust Mosaic Mentoring since January; and this was combined with a world of work trip to EFG Harris Allday in Colmore Row, Birmingham. EFG Harris Allday are a stockbroking firm, who work with families, businesses and charities; offering expert financial guidance and investment management solutions. The timetable for the day was:
- Welcome & Introduction to EFG Harris Allday
- Careers (Mosaic Programme)
- Managing Money – Saving, spending, and budgeting (we will touch on investing from a long-term saving perspective)
- Thinking of new perspectives (Six Thinking Hats – Team exercise)
The group met the Managing Director Edward James who kindly came to speak to them about his journey; as well as other career roles at the firm such as senior advisors, HR and Marketing.
The pupils learned about stocks and shares, savings accounts and budgeting. These were all relevant and important skills to learn. Zuhair Khan had a ridiculous wealth of knowledge. So much so that they offered him a job to start on the following Monday!
It was great to see the pupils in this environment and I know that they gained a huge amount from it.
