Year 11 visit the Houses of Parliament

Today our Year 11 Citizenship group had a very successful trip to the Houses of Parliament in London. The pupils were fantastic!!!
They got to stand where Rishi Sunak stood last week to listen to King Charles’ speech in the House of Lords. They also got to sit in the public gallery and listen to a debate by the Youth Parliament in the House of Commons.
During the workshop, pupils showed great knowledge and contribution to all activities. The person who led the workshop was impressed with their debating skills, passion and enthusiasm, and as a result we over ran slightly.
Pupils had to debate about issues which concerned them, and their final debate was on free transport to under 18’s. Mr Mahmood became very competitive with his group!
A big shout out to Mr Garrison who drove in rush hour traffic through London!
Please see below some pictures which were taken.
A big thank you to Mrs Wragg for all of her amazing planning and providing our pupils with this fantastic, exciting opportunity.
