Following an approach by the DFE and Birmingham Archdiocese, Holy Trinity will be sponsoring and providing strategic support to Holy Souls Catholic Primary School for an initial period of 12 months. The school is currently rated as ‘Inadequate’. Following a very promising OFSTED monitoring visit in September, there is real optimism that the school is making significant strides of improvement towards a more positive judgement in the spring.

This is not an Executive Headteacher model, but I will be providing a new and dynamic leadership team with support in their short term aim to no longer be judged as an ‘Inadequate’ school and their longer term aim to be a centre of excellence amongst Primary Schools in the city. My title is School Improvement Partner and in conjunction with Rachel Girling (Acting Headteacher) we are determined to give all pupils and a large number of those who are disadvantaged, the very best education that can be provided.

This responsibility will be in addition to what I do and not a replacement for anything that I do. I am fully committed to carrying through the great project that has been started here at Holy Trinity and I see the support given to Holy Souls as being about a greater moral purpose to support another insititution that is currently in need of some help.

This will not mean that I am out of school for any set period of time during the week.  I  have enough to do here and Rachel and her team are  more than capable of managing the operational demands of school life at Holy Souls.  I  will be of course on hand if needed and in school at key times such as OFSTED monitoring or full Section 5 inspection and will be strategically supporting their school improvement from right here in Small Heath.

No staff  from Holy Trinity will be going to Holy Souls to work but opportunities for positive collaboration and support between both schools will naturally arise.

This opportunity to support another school is testament to the great journey of excellence that Holy Trinity is currently on. Much of our current success and success to come can be attributed to the great loyalty, commitment and support of the school from you as parents and guardians. Without this, Holy Trinity would not be as strong. I will endeavour to keep you updated on any developments as and when they happen but for now I will conclude by thanking you again.
